 Ahmedabad

The city founded by Sultan Ahmed Shah on the banks of River Sabarmati in 1411 A.D. Legend has it that he decided to build the capital at Ahmedabad because he saw a rabbit attacking one of his hunter dogs. It occurred to him that if the rabbits of the region were so brave, the people must be even braver.

Banglore

Bangalore is the capital of Karnataka. This Garden City has well - laid out parks, gardens, long avenues of blossoming trees and salubrious climate. Emerging as the hi-tech capital of India, it still retains a charm that is totally Indian. Founded in 1537 by a local Chieftain Kempe Gowda, Bangalore has changed dramatically over the years.

Bhopal

It was founded by Raja Bhoj in 11th Centuary. Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh combines scenic beauty, historicity and modern urban planning.

Bhubneshwar

Bhubaneswar, is the capital of Orissa. It is known as "Temple City of India". Being the seat of Tribhubaneswar or 'Lord Lingaraj', Bhubaneswar is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre. Hundreds of temples dot the landscape of the Old Town, which once boasted of more than 2000 temples. Bhubaneswar is the place where temple building activities of Orissan style flowered from its very inception to its fullest culmination extending over a period of over one thousand years.

Chandigarh

Chandigarh is famous for its unique architecture. Another lesser known aspect of Chandigarh is that besides, architecture and other urban components, it is one of the few cities of the world with well planned landscaping. The city boasts of Leisure Valley and large number of beautifully maintained gardens. Chandigarh has the distinction of having world acclaimed Rock Garden. Sukhna Lake is another important place of tourists attraction. This man-made Lake also offers boating and other water sports facilities.

Chennai

It is the capital city of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is the fourth largest metropolis in India. Located on a 17km stretch of the Coramandel coast, the city is trisected by the waterways of Cooum and Adyar and the Buckingham Canal. With a population of 6 million people, Chennai is a vibrant city ever growing, expanding and changing every year.

Cochin

It is located on the coast of the Arabian sea with Kottayam and Alappuzha districts on the south, Idukki on the east and Thrissur on the north. The commercial capital and the most cosmopolitan city of Kerala, Kochi, in Ernakulam, is also known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea.

Delhi

A history which begins with the creation of Indraprastha by the Pandavas and the transformation of this barren gift of the Kauravas into an idyllic haven. A history which encompasses all the various kings and emperors who fixed their royal citadels here-- Indraprastha, Lal Kot, Quila Rai Pithora, Siri, Jahanpanah, Tughlakabad, Ferozabad, Dinpanah, Delhi Sher Shahi or then Shahjahanabad. but, combined and integrated into one, these 'new cities' have always been called Delhi and howsoever many names it may have acquired, Delhi has always been intrinsically identified with power and imperial sway.

Hyderabad

Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The name itself brings up vision of a vibrant city of minarets and modern high - rise buildings. A natural and sophisticated blend of old and new - an old 'Nawabi' culture with a new pro-active approach and hospitality. The Teeming bazaars of the old city, in the midst of which stands the 400-year-old Charminar, the modern shopping complexes and ultra-modern malls in the newer areas of the city add to the charm of Hyderabad.

Jaipur

Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan. The old Jaipur painted in Pink can grip any visitor with admiration. Stunning backdrop of ancient forts Nahargarh, Amer, Jagarh and Moti Dungri are dramatic testimonials of the bygone era and a reminder of their lingering romance. Jaipur is named after its founder the warrior and astronomer sovereign Sawai Jai Singh II (ruled 1688 to 1744).

Kolkata

Kolkata is the capital of the West Bengal. It is a metropolis of eastern India. A three hundred year old city, Calcutta has a lot to offer. Museums, art galleries, cinema complexes, the Victoria Memorial Hall are but some of its attractions. Today, with over twelve million residents in the metropolitan region, Kolkata is one of the world's largest urban agglomerations.

Mumbai

Mumbai is the capital of Maharastra State. With the outbreak of the American Civil War in 1861, and the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, exports, specially cotton, from Bombay became a major part of the colonial economy. This network of commerce and communication led to an accumulation of wealth. This was chanelled into building an Imperial Bombay by a succession of Governors.

Patna

Patna is the capital of Bihar state. And in each chapter of its history, it has been crowned by a new name- Kusumpur, Pushpapur, Pataliputra and Azeemabad. Its Period of glory spanned a thousand years, from 6th century B.C. to 5th century A.D. Emperors who ruled from Pataliputra were the Gupta and Pala Kings, Shershah Suri (16th Century) and Azimush-Shan (18th Century) grandson of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, who renamed it Azeemabad.

Trivendrum

Sight seeing of trivendrum includes Secretariat which is built in the Roman architectural style. This is the centre of government administration in Kerala and houses the offices of ministers and the bureaucracy. Thiruvananthapuram which is Located at the south western tip of India is the capital city of Kerala and is bordered by the Arabian sea on the west.

Udaipur

Udaipur city was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1568, after his citadel Chittorgarh was sacked by Mughal Emperor Akbar. Maharana Pratap is the most revered Rajput icon and gallantly fought the Mughal at the Haldighati in 1576. Mewar continuously defied foreign invaders and has a history of bloody battles until the British intervention in the nineteenth when a treaty was signed to protect Udaipur.

Varanasi

Varanasi is one of the oldest living cities in the world. It probably derives from the two rivers that flank the city, the Varana to the north and the Asi to the south. Varanasi's associations with Shiva extend to the beginning of time: legends relate how, after his marriage to Parvati, Shiva left his Himalyan abode and came to reside in Kashi with all the gods in attendance.
